What is the PCB?
The PCB is the Pakistan Cricket Board, the governing body for cricket in Pakistan. The Board is responsible for the organization and management of the game of cricket in Pakistan. As well as the promotion and development of the sport. The PCB has been a member of the International Cricket Council since 1952.
The Board is led by a Chairman, who is selected by Pakistan’s Prime Minister. Ehsan Mani is the PCB’s current Chairman. The Board comprises a number of committees, each responsible for different functions within the organization.

Background of the PCB
The PCB Management Committee has appointed an interim Men’s Selection Committee to oversee the selection process for the Pakistan men’s cricket team. The committee will be chaired by former Test batsman and current Islamabad United coach Misbah-ul-Haq. And will also include ex-Pakistan players Waqar Younis, Mohsin Khan, and Saleem Yousuf.
The committee has been tasked with selecting a squad of 15-18 players for the upcoming tour of England. As well as a captain and vice-captain for the team. They will also have to select a head coach and support staff for the tour.
This is not the first time that Misbah has been appointed to a selection committee. He was also part of the panel that selected the Pakistan team for the 2019 World Cup.

What are the responsibilities of the PCB?
The PCB Management Committee has appointed an interim Men’s Selection Committee to oversee the selection process for the Pakistan men’s cricket team.
The responsibilities of the interim Men’s Selection Committee are as follows:
- To select the Pakistan men’s cricket team for all formats of the game.
- To monitor the performance of the Pakistan men’s cricket team and make recommendations for improvements where necessary.
- To liaise with the Pakistan Cricket Board on all matters relating to the selection of the Pakistan men’s cricket team.
The Men’s National Selection Committee’s Interim Chair
Lahore, December 24, 2022, Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has been selected as the temporary Chair of the Men’s National Selection Committee for the home series against New Zealand by the PCB Management Committee.
The panel will also feature Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum, with Convener Haroon Rashid (member of the Management Committee).

“I am glad to have been awarded this task by the PCB Management Committee. And also shall no stone unturned in performing this obligation to the best of my ability.
“We need to get back to our winning ways. And I have no doubts that with meritocratic and wise selection decisions. We can help the national team to play effectively in the series against New Zealand and regain the faith of our supporters.

Shahid Afridi played 27 Tests, 398 ODIs, and 99 T20Is between 1996 and 2018, accumulating 11,196 runs and collecting 541 wickets. He also led the national squad in 83 international matches. He was a member of Pakistan’s winning side at the 2009 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Lord’s.
Between 1996 and 2013, Abdul Razzaq appeared in 343 international matches, accumulating 7,419 runs and capturing 389 wickets. He was also a member of the side that won the T20 World Cup in 2009 at Lord’s.
